Baba Vida Fortress

Located on the Danube River bank. The fortress foundations were laid at the end of the 10th century over an ancient Roman tower. Preserved until nowadays, it was connected with the defence of the town in the Middle Ages and reached a finished state in the 14th c. Nowadays the fortress has 5 decares of built-up area. It comprises 2 walls, between which an outside yard has formed, and the area fenced by the inner wall is built-up with arched premises attached to it.
