Kaleto fortress is situated next to the town of Mezdra and also located over a high rocky massif. It used to guard the access to the Stara Planina passes. In the antiquity here used to pass the way that connected the Roman town Oescus and Serdika.
Now on the inaccessible rock massif can be seen the fortified walls built during the Roman, the Byzantine period and the Bulgarian Middle Ages.
