The Museum of History in Stara Zagora
The Museum of History in Stara Zagora was founded in 1907. In 2000 it is awarded the statute of a Regional museum and encompasses Haskovo district as well. One of the richest pre-historic collections in the world is preserved here. The collections of antique bronze, antique glass, as well as the collection of Thracian chariots arouse the admiration of the visitors.
Two unique dwellings from the Neolithic period from the middle of 4th c. BC have been exhibited in a special protected building and preserved with their inventory and household belongings. These ancient dwellings are the most preserved and having the richest inventory in Europe.
The Memorial Complex “Guardians of Stara Zagora 1877” is a majestic 50-m high monument. It was built in 1977 and immortalises the heroism of Russians and Bulgarians during the defence of Stara Zagora on 31 July 1877.
