This historical monument dedicated to the Holly Mother is with wall paintings from 16th -17th c. The donor was Christopher, bishop of Nessebar and exarch of entire Black Sea. There are more than thousand pictures painted in 258 compositions. The murals of St. Stephan church are very realistic and are among the most remarkable monuments of the Bulgarian artistic heritage.
The third part of the church, the present narthex was painted in 18th c. The scenes of "The Last Judgement's Day" are represented in the typical iconography for this period. In the church is preserved an iconostasis from 16th c. a bishop's throne from 18th c.
