The Achaeological Museum in Sofia, Bulgaria

The Archaeological institute and museum at BAS houses the material and spiritual culture of the tribes that inhabited the modern Bulgarian territory from the antiquity to 18th c.

The National Archaeological Museum is the oldest museum in Bulgaria. It is the largest archaeological museum in the country and one of the biggest in Europe with its fund of 55 000 basic units and about 300 000 coins, workshops for preservation and restoration of paintings, pottery, metal and stone.

The Archaeological Institute is located on 2 Saborna Street (working hours: in the summer 10:00-18:00; in the winter 10:30-15:30 with lunch break; closed on Monday)
